Frequently asked questions — Germany

How can I buy DAHAI SOLAR products in Germany?

Installers, EPC contractors and distributors can request a quote from this page. Tell us the product type, model, quantity and delivery location and we confirm availability and the right contact.

Do DAHAI SOLAR inverters have a VDE-AR-N 4105 certificate?

Yes, for the Hy4K, Hy5K, Hy6K, Hy8K, Hy10K and Hy12K inverters: certificate U23-0802 for NA protection to VDE-AR-N 4105:2018-11 and DIN VDE V 0124-100:2020-06, issued by Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Germany GmbH on 18 September 2023. The PDF is listed under Technical documents on this page. For other models, request the certificate for the exact model.

Do I need to register my solar panels and battery with both my grid operator and the MaStR?

Yes, as two separate steps. Before a rooftop system is connected, a grid connection request (Netzanschlussbegehren) must be made to the grid operator; the Bundesnetzagentur notes that the installer usually handles this. After commissioning, the operator must register the system in the Marktstammdatenregister (MaStR) within one month (§ 5(5) MaStRV). The battery is registered as a separate unit; the official MaStR guide says it must be registered so that EEG payments for the PV system are made without deductions. Breaches can lead to sanction payments under § 52 EEG. Since 16 May 2024, plug-in balcony systems (up to 2 kW modules, 800 VA inverter, unpaid feed-in) no longer have to be reported to the grid operator, but still need a simplified MaStR registration. Checked: 8 November 2026.

Can I install a solar battery system myself in Germany, or do I need a certified electrician?

For a fixed PV and battery system, you need a registered installer for the electrical work. Under § 13(2) NAV, work on the electrical installation behind the house connection fuse may be carried out only by the grid operator or by an installation company entered in a grid operator’s installer register (Installateurverzeichnis). Connecting modules, inverter or battery to the house wiring falls under this rule. The exception is plug-in solar devices (Steckersolargeräte) up to 2 kW module and 800 VA inverter output: § 8(5a) EEG allows them to be connected under the applicable technical rules without extra notices to the grid operator. MaStR registration still applies. The VDE product standard DIN VDE V 0126-95 (December 2025) does not cover plug-in devices with energy storage. Checked: 8 November 2026.

Is solar plus storage still worth it in Germany after the feed-in tariff changes?

It depends on your own figures, so there is no general payback period. For building-mounted systems with surplus feed-in commissioned 1 August to 31 December 2026, the Bundesnetzagentur lists 7.70 ct/kWh for the share up to 10 kW, 6.66 for 10–40 kW and 5.44 for 40–100 kW. EEG 2023 applies until 31 December 2026; a successor law is in parliamentary deliberation. Under § 51 EEG, no payment is due when spot prices are negative (systems under 100 kW are exempt until the end of the year a smart meter is installed). Method: estimate yearly yield with the EU’s PVGIS tool, value self-consumed kWh at your electricity tariff and exported kWh at the feed-in rate, then compare with system and financing costs. Checked: 8 November 2026.

Which subsidies or loans (e.g. KfW) are available for solar and batteries in Germany?

At federal level, KfW programme 270 ‘Erneuerbare Energien – Standard’ offers a loan, not a grant. Private individuals qualify if they feed at least part of their electricity into the grid. A battery can be financed together with the PV system or as a retrofit to an existing one. It finances up to 100% of eligible costs, up to €150 million per project, with terms of up to 30 years. The rate is fixed on approval and depends on credit rating. Apply through your bank before signing a purchase contract. Balcony plug-in systems are not eligible. State grants change often; for example, Saxony’s SAB grant for balcony systems closed on 30 June 2026. Search current programmes in the federal Förderdatenbank. Checked: 8 November 2026.

Does my solar installation qualify for Germany's 0% VAT rate, and does that include the battery?

Under § 12(3) UStG, 0% VAT applies to supplies of solar modules, essential components and batteries that store the solar power, and to their installation, when supplied to the PV system’s operator and installed on or near homes or buildings used for public-benefit activities. The 30 kWp figure is a simplification, not a cap: if gross capacity per MaStR is no more than 30 kWp, the building condition is deemed met; larger systems can qualify if that condition is actually met. The BMF letter of 27 February 2023 states that only the supply to the operator is zero-rated; earlier supplies in the chain, such as to dealers, carry the standard rate. Batteries, including retrofitted ones, qualify when intended to store power from qualifying modules. Checked: 8 November 2026.

Is DAHAI SOLAR the same company as DAH Solar?

No. DAHAI SOLAR (Dongying, Shandong, China; EU entity DAHAI SOLAR S.R.L. in Romania) is not related to DAH Solar. Please check the brand name and the legal entity on quotations and certificates.
